In their case against the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), student athletes received assistance from Professor Michael LeRoy in the form of an amicus brief. The case centers on the NCAA's assertion that student athletes are not paid employees, which the students are challenging.
LeRoy has done extensive research and is widely published on the Fair Labor Standards Act and how it misclassifies student athletes. The NCAA attempted to block LeRoy's brief from being entered, but a judge on the Third Circuit allowed it in late July, siding with the athletes in this instance.
