Professor Heidi Hurd gave a leading lecture on July 3rd on the nature and normative force of consent at the Oxford University Faculty of Philosophy’s Conference on Normative Powers in Law and Morality. Entitled “We Are All Thaumaturges!”, Professor Hurd’s lecture defended her well-known “mental state view” against the challenges of prominent critics who champion a “behavioral account.”
On July 15, Professor Hurd and Professor Michael Moore will co-host a roundtable in Southern California on “Individual Obligations to Offset Carbon Emissions.” Participants will include legal scholars and moral philosophers from Yale, Illinois, USC, UC-San Diego, UC-Santa Barbara, and USD.
