Associate Dean and Professor Lesley Wexler will deliver a keynote speech at the upcoming Men & the #MeToo Movement Conference in Philadelphia on November 15, 2019. In her keynote, titled "#MeToo and Earned Redemption," Wexler will suggest that in order to successfully reintegrate into workplaces, social circles, and other communities, #MeToo perpetrators must engage in the ongoing process of earned redemption. While apologies and self-reflection are important components, earned redemption also requires ongoing commitments: to making victims whole or as close as possible; participating in up-stander behavior as appropriate; and supporting structural change within relevant institutions. Since sexual violence acts both to injure specific individuals and to contaminate the larger community, earned redemption is only possible when both injuries are addressed.
