A new season of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver kicked off on HBO on Sunday, February 16, and the main segment was devoted to Medicare for All. Before he dove into addressing the three main criticisms of the policy - cost, wait times, and choice - he presented rationale for the need to reform the American healthcare system. And part of that rationale included a reference (at about 2:30) to the study "Medical Bankruptcy: Still Common Despite the Affordable Care Act," which was published by Professor Bob Lawless and several co-authors in the American Journal of Public Health last year.
