Michael LeRoy, an expert in labor and employment law, presented his research at the Berkeley Journal of Employment and Labor Law Symposium. The topic for the 2020 symposium was Players at Work: Litigating Employee Justice in Sports. LeRoy's study of harassment, abuse, and medical mistreatment in college sports analyzes court rulings in NCAA-related lawsuits, and concludes that an employment relationship would provide better outcomes for players, deter coaching misconduct, and improve campus risk management.
