Dear Fellow Alumni,
As we gear up for another academic year, the College of Education at Illinois is preparing for and excited about what is sure to be an eventful fall, one that we hope you will be a part of in numerous ways.
For starters, the campus’s Campaign Launch & Alumni Celebration begins October 13 with an Evening Celebration at the State Farm Center. This signature event will be the start of the most ambitious philanthropic campaign in the history of the University of Illinois. As campaign happenings become finalized, we hope you will contribute to and be involved with our “Together We Can Change the World” effort.
Speaking of history, our university’s sesquicentennial celebration is in full swing. For the last 150 years the University of Illinois has been a leading land-grant institution of higher learning, a place in which faculty, staff, and students have transformed the social and economic landscape worldwide. Please share your Illinois story and be sure to view a historic timeline of the College of Education.
Homecoming Week takes place October 22-28, so make plans soon to return to one of the best college traditions nationwide! In addition, we’ll be hosting the annual Goldstick Family Lecture in the Study of Communication Disorders on October 19 and the yearly Student Recognition Brunch on November 4. Stay tuned for more details on all of those events.
We hope you enjoy this issue of Alumni Update, which covers a dedicated former student of mine named Jeanne Morris, successful local alumni leading our school districts, two camps in the College of Education, and innovative cyberlearning happening in our building.
Yours in Orange and Blue,
