Dear friends, partners, and colleagues,
During this global pandemic when so much has changed, it is important to remind ourselves periodically about our core purpose. At the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the constant is our educational mission. Whether instruction occurs on campus and face-to-face, or virtually and across time zones, we teach and learn. Enabling student success is always our goal at the University.
This issue of the GET Newsletter shares snapshots of our purpose in action, ranging in scale from individual teacher-student interactions to large institutional partnerships. We fulfill that purpose when essay coaches provide mentorship on students’ writing, and we fulfill it when the University mobilizes to enable residential learning experiences for hundreds of University of Illinois international students abroad. Meanwhile, our Shanghai Office and campus career services colleagues demonstrate how we help our students to succeed when they seek to enter the global workforce.
Circumstances change, challenges arise. At the University of Illinois, we adapt, and we keep moving forward to provide the best possible opportunities for our students.
Best wishes,
Dr. Matt Rosenstein, GET Director
