New and pilot disability center directors from Egypt participated in their final break-out session with their mentors during the Amideast Study Tour on Feb. 14 inside the Illini Union.
The Study Tour, which started Feb. 5, is developed in partnership with Amideast Egypt. It is sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and supported by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education through the U.S.-Egypt Higher Education Initiative Public Universities Scholarships program.
The tour offered participants with an opportunity to learn how to effectively manage every aspect of a successful university Disability Service Center from organizational structure and operations to policies and procedures.
On Feb. 15, participants traveled to Chicago to tour The Chicago Lighthouse, a world-renowned social service organization serving the blind, visually impaired, disabled, and Veteran communities since 1906.
Then on Feb. 16, participants boarded their planes and left for Egypt on their final day of the Study Tour.
