Dear, friends, partners, & colleagues -
We are thrilled to highlight Global Education & Training's partnership with the KAUST Gifted Student Program (KGSP).
Through a collective effort between King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the Institute of International Education:
- GET has hosted 42 students from Saudi Arabia since 2017.
- 10 students are currently enrolled at Illinois as full-time undergraduate students.
- 10+ University of Illinois departments partner with GET to provide on-campus support.
Within this newsletter, you can view the scope of our continued partnership with KGSP, including a program overview and a student spotlight from Doha Amer, a first-year engineering student at Illinois.
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has had a very positive experience cooperating with KAUST on the KAUST Gifted Students Program. The excellent quality of the KGSP scholarship recipients is clear, affirmed by their preparedness when they arrive on our campus, and by the 100% success rate in placing Foundation Year students from Illinois in undergraduate studies at highly competitive U.S. higher education institutions.
The KGSP students are uniquely talented: with each cohort, we witness young people who are already well on the path to becoming innovators, entrepreneurs, social media influencers, and forces for positive economic, environmental, and social transformation. They not only perform well in the classroom; they also contribute to our campus and community through volunteer service and active engagement in student organizations, such as, the Engineering Council and Saudi Student Association.
As future leaders, our KGSP students represent the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, KAUST, and the University of Illinois with excellence, passion, and integrity. It has been gratifying to observe these young talents grow and thrive.
Best wishes,
Dr. Matt Rosenstein, GET Director
