The recent terrorist attack on our nation’s Capital reminds us of the times in our history when a violent population of white supremacist have attempted to subvert a multi-racial form of government. On each of those occasion race, racial hatred and notions of racial superiority have been used to divide the working class. Just as racial discrimination continues to stain the American promise of equality, workers ability to defend their interest are weakened by beliefs and practices that under mind solidarity. As we celebrate the birthdate of Martin Luther King and prepare to honor Black History Month, the Labor Education Program will be presenting a special 12-session virtual class, titled “Race and Labor: Getting It Right This Time.” This class will do what LEP does best: through education foster the understanding of and respect for a multi-racial working class.
