Welcoming Week is an annual series of events held in communities across the United States that brings together immigrant and nonimmigrant community members to get to know one another and build community cohesion. This year in Champaign County, 33 events will take place from Friday, September 13 through Sunday, September 22. All events are free, open to the public, and for all ages. Visit the University YMCA’s Welcoming Week webpage to learn more: www.universityymca.org/welcome/ww19
Also, be sure to check out the Welcoming Week Kick-Off in front of the Orpheum Children’s Science Museum on Friday, September 13 from 4pm to 7pm! You're sure to find free tamales from La Paloma food truck (get there before the free ones run out!), live music from Abraham Mellish and Jean-René Balekita and Bomoyi Ministries, plus other fun activities for the whole family.
