Winterberry (Ilex verticillata) brings a splash of color to the winter landscape of bogs, swamps, and other wet areas. Its shiny, red berries, produced in fall, persist throughout the cold, winter months and are even more visible after the plant's leaves have dropped. Birds love these berries and routinely strip them from winterberry plants by late winter.
