CONGRATULATIONS to Bartlett High School -- now a two-time winner of our Meal of the Month contest!
Spring is here, the school year is winding down. The challenge? Keeping students interested in school meals. Solution: Make colorful changes!
By changing large pancakes to mini, switching winter fruit to summer, and adding a dollop of whipped cream, the plate was redesigned and students re-engaged.
Food & Nutrition Manager Judy Dorsz said, "When we opened for breakfast, students were standing around, faces in their phones, half asleep at 6:30 am. As the first person walked out with their pancakes, I watched heads look up in surprise and then they rushed into the cafeteria. The line was so long that I needed to help serve! The cook needed to make double the amount of pancakes than we had anticipated."
Amazing how such simple tweaks can bring back excitement to breakfast basics! Thank you for your dedication to child nutrition and congratulations again!
