Kimball Middle School is bringing the tropical vibes when it's chilly outside!
But Pam Jewell, Food Service Manager, admits it wasn't easy to get students to try the Hawaiian Flatbread Pizza. "With [middle schoolers] being finicky about food, it took some persuading," she said. Samples were offered to entice the crowds, and the item is growing in popularity. "Last week we had Hawaiian Luau Day and our cook could not keep up," Jewell explained.
The whole grain flatbread is toasted with a bit of olive oil then topped with spiced marinara sauce, turkey ham and bacon, shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese, red onion, and juicy pineapple. Students say they like the flavor of the sauce with the sweet pineapple and the crispiness of the flatbread.
