LeAnne Howe (American Indian Studies and English) won a USA Ford Fellowship in Literature from United States Artists. The organization honors 50 of America’s finest artists each year with individual fellowship awards of $50,000. Howe joins a class of 2012 awardees that includes Annie Proulx, Coco Fusco, Guillermo Gomez-Peña, David Henry Hwang, Edgar Heap of Birds, Adrienne Kennedy, and many others. In 2012, Professor Howe was also the winner of the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Native Writers Circle of the Americas.
