ISTC is seeking to hire an Academic Hourly or Student Hourly to conduct research to advance the development of green processes for hydrogen production in support of industrial decarbonization. The position is based in Champaign, Illinois.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct laboratory experiments for proof of scientific concepts related to research topics.
- Document and interpret experimental data to assure validity and quality control.
- Ensure the safety of staff and equipment.
- Conduct literature searches.
Minimum Qualifications: Students or professionals (including recent graduates) have a background in chemistry, chemical, materials science, or environmental engineering, or related discipline. Alternate degree fields will be considered/accepted depending on the nature and depth of the experience as it relates to this position. Related research or industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in general chemistry and chemical lab work. Confident to handling corrosive chemicals, high temperature laboratory equipment, and gas cylinders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Effective communication and interpersonal, collaborative, organizational, and teamwork. Demonstrated ability to perform effectively following experimental procedures. Attention to detail and sound judgment.
Work Environment: The work of this position takes place in a chemical laboratory setting. Must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week. Must be able to lift 40 pounds of testing materials or equipment.
Appointment
Information: This is an Academic Hourly or Student Hourly appointment initially for six months, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and the availability of continued funding. The position requires a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week, up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Depending on funding and programmatic needs, the position may transition to a regular full-time position at a later date. The expected start date is February 2025, and the hourly rate will be commensurate with experience.
