The Illinois State Geological Survey is seeking to hire a Visiting Assistant Research Scientist, Societal Considerations and Impacts. This position will uniquely combine social science research with program evaluation to enhance our program's ability to evaluate the social impacts of our projects and communicate our science with the public. This position will (1) Conduct research at the intersection of physical and social science in support of energy transition and energy storage related projects and proposals. (2) Develop plans, tools, resources, and success metrics for our Environmental Justice (EJ); diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA); and stakeholder analysis and engagement efforts. (3) Evaluate internal and external engagement through data collection, research, and analysis of EJ/DEIA/stakeholder data, maps, and reports. (4) Communicate findings to management, staff, funding agencies, and the public. Position is based in Champaign, Illinois.
