The Illinois State Archaeological Survey in partnership with the Forest Preserve District of Cook County is pleased to announce paid summer opportunities available to interested Tribal members. These paid positions ($15.30/hr) are available for 2-8 week periods, depending on interested individuals’ availability. Work will involve moderate physical exertion outdoors under sometimes challenging conditions.
This is a unique opportunity for anyone interested in:
- working outdoors with a team of dedicated heritage preservation specialists,
- helping to identify, protect, and preserve sensitive cultural resources within more than 11,000 acres of Forest Preserve lands,
- learning to identify cultural artifacts and sites,
- helping us report cultural sites according to the laws and regulations that protect public lands,
- seeing how GPS, GIS, and other technology is used in the course of survey and reporting,
No experience necessary, must be 18 years of age. Work will be conducted in Cook County. Lodging, per diem, and transportation are not available.
