A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between Friday and Saturday from Babcock Hall, 1002 W. College Court, Urbana. The bicycle has an estimated value of $550. No information was provided on whether the bicycle had been locked.
A U. of I. student reported that he had been the victim of an extortion scheme. On Saturday, the student engaged in a consensual sexual act via the internet with a person whom the student had met online. The sexual act was recorded without the student’s knowledge, and the offender threatened to share the video with the student’s family and friends unless the student paid the offender. The student did not pay and the video had not been made public at the time of the report.
A U. of I. student reported that cash had been stolen from his mail around Nov. 1 at Timothy J. Nugent Hall, 207 E. Gregory Drive, Champaign. The student’s family had mailed the cash as a gift, but the envelope appeared to have been opened before the student retrieved it from a secure mailbox in the residence hall lobby.
A U. of I. student reported Friday that cash and banking cards had been stolen from her wallet. The student lost her wallet somewhere on the main Quad. The wallet was later turned in to the U. of I. Public Safety Building, 1110 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana, but the cash and cards had been removed.
