On Sunday, it was reported that a U. of I. student was sexually assaulted in October 2019 at a fraternity house. The identity of the offender is not known.
Arien G. Melton, 32, of Champaign, was arrested at 7:21 p.m. Tuesday near Dunlap Avenue and Arbour Towne Place, Savoy, Illinois, on a Champaign Count arrest warrant for a probation violation. Melton’s vehicle initially was stopped because its registration was expired and a records check indicated that Melton’s license had been suspended.
There will be no police report Thursday through Jan. 3 because of the holiday. Daily police reports will resume Jan. 4.
