At 3:58 p.m. June 25, a U. of I. employee reported that several individuals entered an online meeting and made racist comments and other troubling statements. About 56 people attended the meeting that was held through an online teleconferencing service.
A U. of I. graduate student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between July 2-9 from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Building, 306 N. Wright St., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $220, was locked to a rack.
Between noon and 3 p.m. Wednesday, a U. of I. graduate student reported that a package delivered to him had been torn open and its contents stolen. The package was delivered to the lobby of his apartment complex at 700 S. Gregory St., Urbana. The estimated cost of the stolen item is $30.
On Thursday, a U. of I. faculty member reported he was the victim of deceptive practices. The faculty member received an email that he believed was from a colleague requesting that he purchase gift cards with the promise to reimburse. The faculty member sent approximately $4,400 worth of gift cards before a store clerk informed him of the scam.
