A U. of I. student reported that their bicycle had been stolen between Saturday and Monday from Loomis Laboratory, 1110 W. Green St., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $280, was locked to a rack.
Terrain T. Minnieweather, 21, of Champaign, was arrested at 5:01 a.m. Saturday near California and Busey avenues, Urbana, for possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and illegal possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle. Minnieweather was a passenger of a vehicle that initially was stopped for speeding. Officers searched the vehicle after smelling an odor of cannabis and found a loaded handgun in the glove compartment and a bag of cannabis on the vehicle floor. Records indicated the gun had been reported stolen from Chicago. After speaking with witnesses, officers determined that the gun belonged to Minnieweather.
Two U. of I. employees reported that cash and credit cards had been stolen from their lockers June 27 at the Activities and Recreation Center, 201 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The employees, who are married, said they discovered the items missing after their credit card company informed them of fraudulent charges totaling $2,632. The credit card charges were canceled, but the cash is still missing.
