A U. of I. employee reported that a university-owned van had been stolen overnight Sunday or Monday from the parking lot of the Illinois Fire Service Institute, 11 Gerty Drive, Champaign. A storage building near the parking lot where the vehicle’s keys had been kept had been accessed without permission. The van, which has an estimated value of $12,000, was later found by a neighboring police agency.
A U. of I. student reported Tuesday that someone had stolen his wallet, containing cash and an identification card, from his vehicle parked in U. of I. parking lot F-23, 1101 W. Florida Ave., Urbana. The student reported that the vehicle had been unlocked, and he learned of the burglary when he was informed by a neighboring police agency that they had recovered several of the stolen items.
A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between Saturday and Monday from Weston Hall, 204 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $500, was locked to a rack.
