    A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen overnight Tuesday or Wednesday from Bousfield Hall, 1214 S. First St., Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $550, was locked to a rack.

    A U. of I. student reported that two packages had been stolen between 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday from outside of her apartment door in the 2000 block of South Orchard Street, Urbana. The packages have a total estimated value of $200.

    Skylar L. Bolton, 31, of Danville, Illinois, was arrested at 3:49 a.m. Thursday near First and Green streets, Champaign, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Police initially stopped Bolton’s vehicle because he was speeding.

    Devontae Turner, 21, of Champaign, was arrested at 12:56 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of North Cunningham Avenue, Urbana, for possession of more than 30 grams of cannabis, resisting a police officer, obstructing justice and on a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court. Turner was a passenger in a vehicle that initially was stopped because an officer observed items hanging from the mirror that obstructed the driver’s view, and the officer saw Turner assembling cannabis to be smoked. Turner initially gave a false name to police when questioned and resisted officers as they handcuffed him. 

    At 4:32 p.m. Tuesday at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, store security personnel reported that someone had stolen three notebooks with a total retail value of $40.93. The offender left the store before she could be stopped by security.

    A U. of I. student reported Tuesday that she had been receiving unwanted calls and text messages since January from a person known to the student. The student has asked the caller to stop several times, but the messages have continued.

    At 11:40 a.m. Monday near Windsor Road and Race Street, Urbana, U. of I. student Jermaine Anderson, 22, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court related to a Champaign County warrant for retail theft. Anderson’s vehicle initially was stopped for speeding. 

    A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between Nov. 19 and Monday from Wassaja Hall, 1202 S. First St., Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $330, was locked to a rack. 

    At 7:02 p.m. Monday at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, U. of I. student Anthony F. Gavrilchenko, 21, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for retail theft. Store security personnel called police after seeing Gavrilchenko leave the store without paying for a water bottle with a retail value of $49. 

    A U. of I. student reported that his electric bicycle had been stolen between 6-8:25 p.m. Monday at the Thomas M. Siebel Center for Computer Science, 201 N. Goodwin Ave., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $1,149, was locked to a rack. A lock with an estimated value of $65 was also taken.

    Keandre Delaney, 35, of Champaign, was arrested at 1:05 a.m. Sunday near Oregon Street and Goodwin Avenue, Urbana, for unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and on a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court. Delaney was a passenger in a vehicle that initially was stopped because it did not have a front license plate. An officer recognized Delaney and learned that he had the outstanding warrant. After detaining Delaney and searching the vehicle, officers found a loaded handgun in the door near where Delaney had been sitting.

    A U. of I. student reported that she had been the victim of deceptive practices Wednesday. The student received a phone call from a man purporting to be an employee of the U.S. Department of the Treasury who was investigating bank fraud. The caller directed the student to withdraw $10,000 from her bank account and use the cash to purchase gift cards at local businesses. The student withdrew the cash but was turned away by the first store she visited and was only allowed to purchase one gift card at another. The student did not transfer the gift card information to the caller, but had already disclosed personal information.

    Chase R. Strack, 20, of Tolono, Illinois, was arrested at 2:57 a.m. Thursday at an apartment near Kerr and Carroll avenues, Urbana, for domestic battery and criminal damage to property. Police initially were called by a witness who heard shouting and banging in the apartment hallway. When officers arrived, they observed Strack kicking in the drywall in the hallway and learned that he had assaulted another person.

    A U. of I. student reported Nov. 12 that someone had followed her vehicle at approximately 11:15 p.m. Nov. 10 as she was leaving U. of I. parking lot F-27, near Lincoln Avenue and Hazelwood Drive, Urbana. Another vehicle parked in the lot followed the student’s vehicle for several blocks until the student made a quick turn and the following vehicle continued on.

    Emily D. Rosecrans, 27, of Savoy, Illinois, was arrested at 9:08 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Village Park Way, Savoy, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Rosecrans’ vehicle initially was stopped because she was driving at night without headlights.

    Michael D. Mitchell, 22, of Champaign, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. Sunday at his residence in the 200 block of East Church Street for driving with a suspended license, driving with an expired registration, operating an uninsured vehicle and fleeing from police. An officer initially attempted to stop Mitchell’s vehicle in the 300 block of East Church Street, Champaign, because its registration was expired. After the vehicle was stopped, Mitchell ran from the scene and was arrested about an hour later at his home a block away.

    Dazhan D. Moore, 23, of Urbana, was arrested at 1:48 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of South Randolph Street, Champaign, for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Moore was a passenger in a vehicle that initially was stopped for disobeying a stop sign. Police searched the vehicle and its occupants after smelling a strong odor of cannabis and found a loaded gun with an extended magazine in Moore’s waistband. Police also found a small bag of cannabis in Moore’s pants pocket.

    A U. of I. employee reported that someone had broken a window between Friday and Monday at the Campus Instructional Facility, 1405 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana. A cost estimate to replace the window was not available.

    Christian L. Johnson, 19, of Chicago, was arrested at 2:05 a.m. Saturday near Second and Daniel streets, Champaign, for driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, failing to signal a turn and stopping in the roadway. Police initially stopped Johnson’s vehicle because he had stopped in the middle of the street and then hit a curb after the vehicle started moving again. After the arrest, officers found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

    A U. of I. employee reported that two university-leased golf carts had been damaged overnight Monday or Tuesday outside Clark Hall, 1203 S. Fourth St., Champaign. One golf cart had its dashboard removed and wiring tampered with. There was no obvious damage to the second golf cart, but it would not start. An estimated cost to repair the damage was not available.
