At 11:24 p.m. Saturday near Green and Chestnut streets, Champaign, Serra M. Slade, 19, of Monticello, Illinois, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for illegal transportation of cannabis in a motor vehicle. Slade’s vehicle initially was stopped because she was speeding. Upon approaching the vehicle, an officer saw a cannabis cigar in the vehicle’s ashtray.
A U. of I. student reported that the catalytic converter had been cut off and stolen from her vehicle between Nov. 28 and Friday at U. of I. parking lot E-14, 1702 S. First St., Champaign. The estimated cost to repair the vehicle is $700.
A U. of I. student reported that he was the victim of an armed robbery between midnight and 2 a.m. Sunday in the 400-500 block of East Peabody Drive, Champaign. The student was riding an electric scooter when he heard someone calling for his attention. The student stopped and addressed the offender, who displayed a weapon and demanded that the student place his property on the ground. The student believed the weapon to be a knife. The student threw the scooter at the offender and ran from the area. No physical injuries were reported. The scooter has an estimated value of $700.
A U. of I. student reported that someone had broken the side view mirror off of his vehicle between Thursday and Monday while it was parked at U. of I. parking lot E-14, 1702 S. First St., Champaign. The estimated cost to repair the mirror is $40.
