A U. of I. student reported that she was the victim of a battery at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday outside of Altgeld Hall, 1409 W. Green St., Urbana. The student said she was approached by two people on bicycles, one of whom stated that he had COVID-19 and intentionally coughed on the student. The other bicyclist yelled unspecified words at the student. The bicyclists fled when the student tried to use pepper spray to deter them.
A U. of I. employee reported Wednesday that someone had placed a mannequin head on the end of an ornamental lightning rod on the roof of the Main Library, 1408 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana. The employee said this was the second such occurrence in three days.
A U. of I. student reported that someone had stolen the catalytic converter from her vehicle between Aug. 20 and Sept. 1 while it was parked in U. of I. parking lot F-23, 1101 W. Florida Ave., Urbana. The estimated cost to replace the auto part was not available at the time of the report.
