Sanford I. Stacy Jr., 48, of South Roxana, Illinois, was arrested at 5:50 p.m. Saturday at State Farm Center, 1800 S. First St., Champaign, for possession of a controlled substance. A security employee at the arena found Stacy to be in possession of methamphetamine as Stacy was entering through a security checkpoint.
A U. of I. student’s vehicle was damaged around 5:29 p.m. Saturday while it was parked outside of the Ven Te Chow Hydrosystems Laboratory, 301 N. Mathews Ave., Urbana. Police initially were called to assist another student who was experiencing a crisis. During the crisis, the student kicked the door of the vehicle, causing an estimated $200 in damage. A university-owned sign with an estimated value of $75 was also damaged. The student in crisis was taken to a local hospital by a family member and is not expected to be charged criminally for the property damage.
A U. of I. employee reported Wednesday that he had received a series of harassing voicemail messages from a former student.
A U. of I. student reported Thursday that his car’s catalytic converter had been stolen between Jan. 5-7 from a parking lot in the 2000 block of South Orchard Street, Urbana. The estimated cost to repair the vehicle is $1,500.
A U. of I. student reported that her designer shoes had been stolen around midnight Friday evening from Snyder Hall, 206 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The shoes, which have an estimated value of $830, were left unattended in a public hallway just outside the student’s room.
