At 8:23 a.m. Thursday at the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana, Alicia M. Merrell-Sutherland, 48, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for trespassing on state-supported property. Police initially were called by Illini Union staff who reported that Merrell-Sutherland was refusing to leave the building. Upon speaking with Merrell-Sutherland, officers learned that she previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice for all U. of I. property.
A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen overnight Saturday or Sunday from Weston Hall, 204 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $300, was locked to a rack.
A U. of I. employee reported Thursday that someone had damaged and removed a plywood cover over the cellar door at the Mumford House, 1403 W. Lorado Taft Drive, Urbana. The estimated cost to replace the cover is $200. There was no information available on when the damage occurred.
A U. of I. student reported that her wallet, identification cards and gift cards had been stolen from her vehicle between 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and 12:15 a.m. Thursday while it was parked in U. of I. parking lot E-12, 501 E. Gregory Drive, Champaign. The stolen items have a total estimated value of $75. There was no information available about whether the vehicle had been locked.
At 1:38 a.m. Friday, a U. of I. police officer patrolling in the 900 block of West University Avenue, Urbana, was flagged down by a person who reported that they had been shot moments earlier. The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening, and he was driven to a nearby hospital by an Urbana police officer.
