A U. of I. student reported that he was robbed of cash and other property at 11:13 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of East Gregory Drive, Champaign. The student was approached by four men and was pushed to the ground before his property was taken from him. The men then ran from the area. The student was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police continue to investigate. In a separate report made at 1:04 p.m. Tuesday, a U. of I. student told police that he had seen the police-issued alert about the East Gregory Drive robbery and that he had been the victim of a robbery attempt at 10:40 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of South Locust Street, Champaign. In that attempt, the student was surrounded by a group and struck from behind by a man who demanded money, but the student ran from the group.
A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle wheel had been stolen between 12:30-6:30 p.m. Monday at the Medical Sciences Building, 506 S. Mathews Ave., Urbana. The wheel has an estimated value of $200. The bicycle was locked to a rack, but the wheel was not.
Elijah L. Stanley, 27, of Gary, Indiana, was arrested at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of East Green Street, Champaign, on a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court. An officer initially spoke with Stanley because he was a witness to two other people who were fighting in public.
