At 12:16 a.m. Wednesday, a U. of I. student reported that someone had painted graffiti on an exterior wall of Gregory Hall, 810 S. Wright St., Urbana. It is not known when the painting occurred. The estimated cost to remove the graffiti is $500.
At 11:35 a.m. Monday at his residence in the 700 block of South Fifth Street, Champaign, U. of I. student Brandon K. Quigley, 23, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for retail theft. A store security employee at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, reported that he witnessed an individual, later identified as Quigley, leave the bookstore without paying for two T-shirts with a total retail value of $65. Quigley was not detained at the time of the theft, but police found him shortly thereafter at his residence.
At 9:11 a.m. Tuesday at her residence in the 700 block of South Gregory Street, Urbana, U. of I. student Gina Yang, 22, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for theft. Another U. of I. student initially reported that a package had been stolen between Jan. 28-30 from the lobby area of the same apartment where Yang resides. Yang was identified as the person who took the package, and she admitted to the theft upon speaking with officers Tuesday. The contents of the package, which have an estimated value of $55, had since been used and discarded.
