of I. student Maxwell J. Moews, 20, of Champaign, was arrested at 2:03 a.m. Sunday near Pennsylvania Avenue and Sixth Street, Champaign, for driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, operating an uninsured vehicle and failure to yield. Moews’ vehicle initially was stopped because of a traffic violation. After the arrest, an officer found open containers of beer in the vehicle.
A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between Oct. 11 and Saturday from Bousfield Hall, 1214 S. First St., Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimate value of $300, was locked to a rack.
It was reported that a U. of I. student was sexually assaulted Sept. 18 at a fraternity house by a person known to the victim.
On Aug. 19, a U. of I. student reported that cash had been stolen from her backpack that was left unattended in an employee locker room at the Housing Food Stores building, 1321 S. Oak St., Champaign.
Jalen K. Herod, 21, of Chicago, was arrested at 11:17 p.m. Thursday near Wright and Daniel streets, Champaign, for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and resisting a police officer. Herod was a passenger in a vehicle that initially was stopped for disobeying a stop sign. A records check showed that Herod was wanted on a Blue Island, Illinois, arrest warrant. Herod attempted to run from police officers as they arrested him. Officers subsequently found a loaded handgun in his jacket pocket.
