Around 1:06 a.m. Saturday near Fourth and Green streets, Champaign, it was reported that someone had backed their vehicle into another vehicle and drove away, damaging the vehicle’s headlight and scratching its paint. An estimated repair cost was unavailable.
At 7:26 a.m. Saturday at the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana, Gertrude K. Tshinguta, 45, no address provided, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for trespassing. Police initially were called by Illini Union staff who requested that Tshinguta be escorted out of the building. Tshinguta previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice for all U. of I. property.
A U. of I. student’s vehicle was burglarized overnight Friday or Saturday while it was parked near Sherman Hall, 909 S. Fifth St., Champaign. Police initially were called by a U. of I. employee who saw that a window had been shattered and items were strewn about the front seat. The student did not believe anything had been taken. The estimated cost to repair the window is $330.
