Rudiger K. Beer, 56, no address provided, was arrested at 4:33 p.m. Thursday near First Street and Kirby Avenue, Champaign, for trespassing on state-supported land and criminal damage to government-supported property. Police were called by a witness who reported that Beer lit a cardboard box on fire and placed it into a trash can, causing an estimated $100 in damage. Beer also was observed on university property for which he previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice.
At 11:50 a.m. Thursday at his residence in the 2000 block of Greendale Drive, Champaign, Jordan M. Dyson, 20, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer. Dyson was identified as the driver of a vehicle that fled from police June 21 when an officer attempted to stop it for speeding.
