At 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, Antonio A. Bernal, 37, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for trespassing on state-supported property. Police initially were called by store security personnel who saw Bernal inside the bookstore after he had been issued a no-trespassing notice for all U. of I. property on Tuesday following a retail theft incident at the bookstore.
A U. of I. employee reported that someone had stolen her charcoal grill between Monday and Wednesday from the Pollinatarium, 606 W. Windsor Road, Urbana. The grill and its accessories, which have an estimated value of $130, had been left unattended in the outdoor area.
A U. of I. student reported that all of her mail delivered between March 1 and April 6 had been stolen from her mailbox at the Ashton Woods apartment complex, 2309 S. First St., Champaign. The estimated value of the items delivered during that time is $432. The student reported that she suspects an unknown person had been accessing the mailbox, as she began receiving mail again after the mailbox lock was changed.
