    Patrick R. Matthews, 25, of Champaign, was arrested at 3:07 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of South Oak Street, Champaign, for driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured vehicle, possession of more than 30 grams of cannabis and on four Champaign County warrants for failure to appear in court. Matthews’ vehicle initially was stopped because he disobeyed a stop sign.

    At 3 a.m. Saturday near Green and Healey streets, Champaign, Quentin Juwan C. Larry, 29, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court related to a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court. Police officers initially approached Larry because he was drinking alcohol on public property.

    Martha N. Benitez Villegas, 19, of Urbana, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. Sunday near Green and Chestnut streets, Champaign, for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving an uninsured vehicle, driving without a license and for illegal possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle. Benitez Villegas’ vehicle initially was stopped because she was driving at night without headlights. A passenger, Derrial D. Webster, 31, of Champaign, was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, resisting a police officer and for being an armed habitual criminal. Officers conducted a pat-down search of Webster during the investigation and found a loaded gun in his waistband. Webster resisted officers’ attempts to restrain him upon the discovery of the gun, but he was eventually detained without further incident.

    At 8:36 a.m. Saturday near Green and Gregory streets, Urbana, Benjamin D. Lockett, 29, of Champaign, was issued two state of Illinois notices to appear in court related to Champaign County warrants for failure to appear in court. Lockett’s vehicle initially was stopped because he disobeyed a red light.

    A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between Oct. 8 and Thursday from the North Campus Parking Deck, 1201 W. University Ave., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $150, was locked to a rack.

    At 5:38 p.m. Friday on Interstate 74 near Route 47 in Mahomet, Illinois, Latimothy L. Williams, 27, of Carbon Cliff, Illinois, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for unlawful possession of ammunition. Williams’ vehicle initially was stopped because he was speeding. Police searched the vehicle after smelling cannabis and found several rounds of ammunition. Williams does not have a valid Firearms Owner’s Identification.

    At 12:50 a.m. Oct. 1, Nicholas M. Torres, 18, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for illegal possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle. Torres’ vehicle initially was stopped because he failed to use a turn signal. Police searched the vehicle after smelling cannabis and found the cannabis being stored illegally in the vehicle.

    Dalia Ortiz, 18, of Rantoul, Illinois, was arrested at 12:59 a.m. Friday near Green and Chestnut streets, Champaign, for driving under the influence of drugs. Ortiz’s vehicle initially was stopped because she was driving at night without headlights. An officer questioned Ortiz about an odor of cannabis emanating from her vehicle, and she admitted to smoking several minutes prior to the stop.

    A U. of I. student reported Thursday that his bicycle had been stolen overnight Oct. 6-7 from the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $820, was locked to a rack.

    A U. of I. employee reported Wednesday that someone had broken a window and four outdoor light fixtures between Oct. 8-11 at Atkins Golf Club at the University of Illinois, 2560 S. Stone Creek Blvd., Urbana. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $1,500.

    A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle wheel had been stolen between Monday and Wednesday from the Thomas M. Siebel Center for Computer Science, 201 N. Goodwin Ave., Urbana. The student’s bicycle was locked to a rack, but the wheel was unsecured. The wheel has an estimated value of $100.

    A U. of I. student reported Wednesday that his mobile video game device had been stolen Oct. 6 from the Thomas M. Siebel Center for Computer Science, 201 N. Goodwin Ave., Urbana. The device, which has an estimated value of $263, was left unattended in a shared office.

    Deonance J. Hill, 29, of Champaign, was arrested at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of Melrose Village Circle, Urbana, for possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and armed violence. Hill was a passenger in a vehicle that initially was stopped because the driver was driving with a revoked license. Police searched the vehicle after smelling a strong odor of cannabis and found a handgun, cannabis, cocaine and drug packaging materials in Hill’s backpack. The driver was released with a warning.

    A manager at a rental car business located at Willard Airport, 11 Airport Road, Savoy, Illinois, reported that a rental vehicle had been stolen from the business. The vehicle, which has an estimated value of $27,164, had been rented Sept. 9 and was not returned on the appointed date of Sept. 17.

    A U. of I. employee reported that a university-owned van had been damaged between Thursday and Monday while it was parked outside the Physical Plant Services Building, 1501 S. Oak St., Champaign. It appeared that someone had scratched the vehicle with a sharp object. An estimated cost to repair the damage was not available.

    A U. of I. housing security guard reported that someone had broken the glass front of a vending machine between Wednesday and Monday at Snyder Hall, 206 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. An estimated cost to repair the damage was not available.

    A U. of I. student reported that his two backpacks had been stolen between 8:40-9:15 p.m. Sunday at Wassaja Hall, 1202 S. First St., Champaign. The backpacks, which contained various electronics and clothing items with a total estimated value of $2,564, were left unattended in the residence hall lobby.

    Austin D. Kibler, 21, of Urbana, was arrested at 1:04 a.m. Saturday near University and Lincoln avenues, Urbana, for driving under the influence of alcohol and for failing to yield to a stopped emergency vehicle. Kibler initially was stopped because his vehicle nearly struck a police car engaged in a traffic stop, and an officer saw him holding a can of beer.

    A U. of I. student reported that a package had been stolen between 6:45-11 p.m. Wednesday from the package room of her apartment complex at 700 S. Gregory Ave., Urbana. The student received a notification that the package, which has an estimated value of $116, had been delivered, but it was not there when she went to retrieve it.

    An employee of Einstein Bros. Bagels in the Thomas M. Siebel Center for Computer Science, 201 N. Goodwin Ave., Urbana, reported that someone had stolen food overnight Thursday or Friday. The food was left within arm’s reach of the pulldown security gate after the business closed on Thursday. The estimated value of the stolen items is $22.

    A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen overnight Thursday or Friday from Hopkins Hall, 1208 S. First St., Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $500, was locked to a rack.

    A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between 4-6 p.m. Wednesday from Wassaja Hall, 1202 S. First St., Champaign. The bicycle, which had an estimated value of $775, was locked to a rack.

    A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between 4-5 p.m. Tuesday from the Undergraduate Library, 1402 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $400, was locked to a rack.

    At 9:30 p.m. Monday at the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana, Antonio A. Bernal, 37, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for trespassing on state-supported property. Police initially were called by Illini Union staff who requested that Bernal be escorted from the building. Officers learned that Bernal previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice for all U. of I. property.

    A U. of I. student reported that her cellphone had been stolen between 4-6 p.m. Saturday at the Activities and Recreation Center, 201 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The phone, which has an estimated value of $600, was left in an unsecured locker.

    U. of I. student Benjamin S. Lu, 18, was arrested at 4:57 a.m. Monday at his residence at Nugent Hall, 207 E. Gregory Drive, Champaign, for domestic battery. It was reported that Lu was the aggressor in a physical altercation with his roommate.

    A U. of I. employee reported that two outdoor metal signs had been stolen between Saturday and Monday from Krannert Art Museum, 500 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The estimated cost to replace the signs is $1,500.
