    It was reported at 5:33 p.m. Sept. 7 that a U. of I. student had been receiving repeated and unwanted communication from another student with whom the victim is acquainted. Officers told the offending student to stop contacting the victim.

    At 4:25 p.m. Monday at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, U. of I. student Mia H. Spina, 18, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for retail theft. Store security personnel called police after seeing Spina attempt to leave the store without paying for a lab coat with a retail value of $55.99.

    At 4:58 p.m. Friday, it was reported that a U. of I. student was sexually assaulted in December 2017 at an apartment in Champaign by a person known to the student.

    At 5:01 p.m. Friday, it was reported that a U. of I. student was sexually assaulted in June 2018 in Chicago by a person known to the student.

    A U. of I. student reported that his shoes had been stolen between 5:30-7 p.m. Friday near the recreation fields at First Street and Stadium Drive, Champaign. The shoes, which have an estimated value of $250, were left unattended.

    A U. of I. student reported that his wedding ring had been stolen between 7:30-9:20 p.m. Thursday at the Activities and Recreation Center, 201 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The ring, which has an estimated value of $1,500, was left unattended in a workout area.

    At 11:10 p.m. Thursday at the Undergraduate Library, 1402 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana, U. of I. student Precious O. Adebayo, 18, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for retail theft. Adebayo was identified as the person who left the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, at 4:08 p.m. Wednesday without paying for two clothing items with a total retail value of $73. Police contacted her on Thursday and asked her to meet with an officer at the Undergraduate Library.

    Dajon K. Brown, 20, no address provided, was arrested at 1:08 p.m. Tuesday in the 0-100 block of East Gregory Drive, Champaign, for trespassing on state-supported property. Police initially were called because Brown was cursing at people on the sidewalk. He previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice for U. of I. property.

    A U. of I. student reported that a parking pass had been stolen from his motorcycle around 5 p.m. Sunday at the Ikenberry Commons parking area near Euclid Street and Gregory Drive, Champaign. The parking pass was bolted to the motorcycle and appeared to have been removed.

    A U. of I. student reported at 5:33 p.m. Friday that she had received unwanted messages via social media from a person with whom she is acquainted. Police contacted the offender and directed him to cease communication.

    Jasmine F. J. Cail-Jones, 27, of Champaign, was arrested at 2:07 a.m. Sunday near University Avenue and Wright Street, Champaign, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Cail-Jones’ vehicle initially was stopped because she was driving without headlights.

    Stephen M. Williams, 46, of Urbana, was arrested at 7:29 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Stadium, 1402 S. First St., Champaign, for trespassing on state-supported land. A police officer recognized Williams, who was working at a concession stand as an employee of a vendor not affiliated with the university, and was aware that he previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice for U. of I. property.

    A U. of I. student reported that her bicycle had been stolen between 3:10-6 p.m. Thursday from Engineering Hall, 1308 W. Green St., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $150, was locked to a rack.

    Two U. of I. employees reported that they had received alarming phone calls from an anonymous caller between 11:30 and 12:30 p.m. Friday regarding former President Barack Obama’s appearance on campus. The caller made derogatory comments and threatened the employees.

    Wesley P. Chamberlain, 30, of Champaign, was arrested at 8:48 p.m. Friday near Main and Chestnut streets, Champaign, on a McLean County, Illinois, warrant for failure to appear in court. A police officer recognized Chamberlain and was aware of the warrant.

    A U. of I. visiting scholar reported that his bicycle had been stolen between Aug. 5-27 from the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, 105 S. Mathews Ave., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $50, was locked to a rack.

    At 9:53 a.m. Wednesday at Townsend Hall, 918 W. Illinois St., Urbana, U. of I. employee Tamara Y. Williams, 44, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for theft of lost or mislaid property. Williams was identified as the person who stole cash from a wallet which had been left in the Townsend Hall lounge on Aug. 27.

    At 2:49 a.m. Saturday, it was reported that a drug was placed in a U. of I. student’s drink during a party at a fraternity house. The student had visited two fraternity houses earlier in the night, but it is not clear at which house the incident occurred. The student left the party with friends and called an ambulance upon feeling the effects of the drug. After a medical evaluation, paramedics believed some sort of “upper” was placed in the drink. The student was not otherwise physically injured

    A U. of I. student reported at 11:22 a.m. Sunday that she had been receiving continuous unwanted text messages from a person with whom the student is acquainted. The messages continued after the student directed the offender to stop.

    A U. of I. building services employee reported that someone had scratched a swastika into a metal panel in an elevator in the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana. It is believed that the damaged occurred Sunday, and the estimated cost to replace the panel is $1,500.

    A woman reported at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday that someone had stolen checks and other items from her vehicle between 7:40-10:30 p.m. May 22. Somebody then made a fraudulent $361.29 purchase with a stolen check on July 17. The vehicle was parked in a lot at State Farm Center, 1800 S. First St., Champaign. It is not known whether the vehicle was locked.

    Daniel T. Lewis, 47, no address provided, was arrested at 7:43 p.m. Saturday near Second and Healey streets, Champaign, on a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court. A police officer recognized Lewis and was aware of the warrant.
