A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen around 1 p.m. Saturday at Snyder Hall, 206 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $400, was locked to a rack.
Gregory Kilpatrick, 26, of Urbana, was arrested at 11:19 p.m. Saturday near Mathews Avenue and Green Street, Urbana, on a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court. Kilpatrick was a passenger in a vehicle that initially was stopped because police suspected that one of its occupants was involved in a domestic battery reported minutes earlier by a Student Patrol officer.
It was reported that a U. of I. student had received multiple unwanted text messages and phone calls from a person with whom the student previously had been in a dating relationship. Police contacted the offender and told him to cease communication or he could be arrested.
At 11:43 a.m. Thursday at Snyder Hall, 206 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign, U. of I. student Ruby H. Schneider, 21, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for theft. Schneider was identified as the person who stole a digital watch from the Snyder Hall lost and found and sold it online for $200.
