    Mondrell D. Long, 18, of Champaign, was arrested at 10:10 p.m. Sunday near Wright and Green streets, Urbana, for theft. Long was identified as the person who moments earlier had stolen a $549 bicycle from the Coordinated Science Laboratory, 1308 W. Main St., Urbana. 

    An employee of a U. of I. concessions vendor reported Thursday that two counterfeit $20 bills had been used to pay for items during separate basketball games at State Farm Center, 1800 S. First St., Champaign, on Dec. 14 and 29. 

    On Jan. 10, a U. of I. employee found graffiti referencing the Ku Klux Klan in a mechanical room at Altgeld Hall, 1409 W. Green St., Urbana. The employee stated a belief that the graffiti had been there for many years. The graffiti was immediately removed and there was no damage to the building.

    Gordon R. Ficklin, 46, of Tolono, Illinois, was arrested at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday near Dunlap Avenue and Dunlap Court, Savoy, Illinois, for driving under the influence of drugs. A passenger in the vehicle, Mariel J. Hovey, 28, of Urbana, was arrested at the same time for possession of a controlled substance. The vehicle initially was stopped because its registration sticker had expired. Ficklin’s performance during a field sobriety test indicated that he was impaired, and police found crack cocaine in a bag on the floor near where Hovey was sitting.

    James M. McCammon, 53, of Bement, Illinois, was arrested at 10:59 p.m. Friday at First Street and Windsor Road, Champaign, for driving under the influence of alcohol. McCammon’s vehicle initially was stopped because of a broken headlight.

    David F. Foran, 22, of Bement, Illinois, was arrested at 3:19 a.m. Saturday at Neil Street and Windsor Road, Champaign, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Foran’s vehicle initially was stopped because he failed to yield to another vehicle while making a left turn.

    A U. of I. employee reported that he had received a threatening email from an unknown person at 6:57 p.m. Thursday.

    A man reported that his bicycle had been stolen overnight Thursday or Friday from the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, 405 N. Mathews Ave., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $50, was locked to a rack.
