U. of I. student Wynda L. Wormack, 21, was arrested at 4:50 a.m. Saturday at her apartment in the 300 block of East John Street, Champaign, for domestic battery. It was reported that Wormack had struck another U. of I. student with whom she was previously in a dating relationship. The battery incident occurred Friday at Chez Veterans Center, 908 W. Nevada St., Urbana.
At 8 p.m. Friday at the U. of I. Public Safety Building, 1110 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana, U. of I. student Erin A. Close, 22, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for retail theft. Close was identified as the offender who is accused to stealing two items with a total retail value of $64.94 on Oct. 21 from the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign.
A U. of I. student reported that someone had made unauthorized purchases using his credit card between Nov. 28 and Thursday. The fraudulent charges totaled $97.96.
A U. of I. student reported that someone had made unauthorized purchases totaling $103.71 using his credit card between Dec. 1 and Wednesday. On Dec. 1, the student received two packages that he did not order.
A U. of I. employee reported that personal items had been stolen from the trunk of his vehicle between noon and 4 p.m. Wednesday at U. of I. parking lot E-24, 101 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign. The stolen items have an estimated value of $609. It is not known whether the trunk was closed and locked.
At 7:46 p.m. Thursday, a police officer discovered that multiple packages had been opened and their contents presumed stolen in the lobby of an apartment complex at 700 S. Gregory St., Urbana. The officer was checking the building because there had been multiple thefts there dating back to Nov. 9. A number of packages that were not empty were taken by police for safekeeping until their owners can be contacted. The investigation is ongoing.
