It was reported that a U. of I. student was asleep in a room at 6 p.m. Saturday at Daniels Hall, 1010 W. Green St., Urbana, when awakened by an individual searching through the student’s dresser drawers. The offender abruptly left the room. It did not appear that anything was stolen. Security cameras captured an image of the suspected offender entering the building by closely following another person who was authorized to enter.
A U. of I. student reported that someone slashed a tire on her vehicle between 2 a.m. Sunday and 4 p.m. Monday. The vehicle was parked at a meter in the 1000 block of College Court, Urbana. The estimated cost to repair the tire is $150.
A U. of I. student reported at 6:29 p.m. Sunday that she had been the victim of deceptive practices. The student had listed a table for sale on a classifieds website and was contacted by someone purporting to be interested in purchasing it. The unknown person instructed the student to purchase $100 in gift cards and transfer the information over email so the offender could pay movers to pick up the table. The offender promised to pay the student back, but never did.
A U. of I. student reported that his bicycle had been stolen between 4 p.m. Sunday and 4 a.m. Monday at Grainger Engineering Library, 1301 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $100, was locked to a rack.
