U. of I. student Cameron F. Vance-Colby, 20, of Champaign, was arrested at 1:38 a.m. Thursday at Weston Hall, 204 E. Peabody Drive, Champaign, for delivery of cannabis. U. of I. housing security guards called police after they saw Vance-Colby smoking cannabis outside of the residence hall. After searching Vance-Colby’s bag, police found individually wrapped bags of cannabis.
A U. of I. student reported that she had been the victim of a scam phone call around 3 p.m. Wednesday. The caller claimed to be from the Chinese customs service and that the office had caught someone who had opened fraudulent bank accounts in the student’s name. During the course of the call, the student gave a number of personal details to the caller, but no money was transferred.
Travell D. Washington, 18, no address provided, was arrested at 10:53 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of East University Avenue, Champaign, for theft. Washington was identified as the person who minutes earlier had stolen a bicycle from the Coordinated Science Laboratory, 1308 W. Main St., Urbana.
