A U. of I. student reported Wednesday that several packages belonging to a number of people appeared to have been opened and their contents stolen at an apartment building at 700 S. Gregory St., Urbana. Another U. of I. student reported Thursday that a package with a retail value of $170.26 was delivered to the mailbox area of the building on Tuesday, and it was missing by the time the student went to retrieve it on Wednesday. It was later determined that hers was one of the opened packages from the initial report.
A U. of I. student reported that someone had made unauthorized charges totaling $1,380.40 on her credit card Nov. 29. The fraudulent purchases were made at a retail store in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.
A U. of I. employee reported Nov. 5 that four suspicious envelopes had been received at Swanlund Administration Building, 601 E. John St., Champaign. The envelopes contained fraudulent checks and were delivered to Swanlund because that was the listed return address. However, the envelopes had not been sent from that location, and the checks listed information for businesses in Florida and Alabama.
