U. of I. student Xiangcan Li, 18, of Urbana, was arrested at 12:59 p.m. Friday at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Urbana, for disorderly conduct. Witnesses reported that Li was engaged in a lewd act while sitting in a café area.
Adedipupo T. Awolola, 20, of Urbana, was arrested at 4:20 a.m. Friday near Lincoln and Springfield avenues, Urbana, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Police initially stopped Awolola’s vehicle because he was asleep at the wheel in the roadway.
At 8:44 a.m. Friday, a woman reported that she had been the victim of deceptive practices. She reported that she has a portion of her paycheck deposited into a bank account she uses to pay tuition. When she recently attempted to make a tuition payment, she discovered the account was empty. The victim later learned that someone in July had sent an email in the victim’s name to her human resources department asking for the funds to be deposited into a different account that the victim does not own. The amount fraudulently diverted totaled $25,587.30.
A U. of I. contractor reported that someone had stolen cash from his vehicle between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec. 5 at Freer Hall, 1102 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana. The vehicle was parked in a docking area and left unlocked.
