Around 10 a.m. Friday, an ignition key to a tractor owned by U. of I. Facilities and Services was reported stolen. The tractor was parked on the west side of the Alice Campbell Alumni Center, 601 S. Lincoln Ave., Urbana, and was left running while an employee used a restroom. When the employee returned, the tractor wasn't running and the ignition key was gone. The approximate cost to replace the key is $20.
On Saturday, a U. of I. student reported that she was the victim of credit card fraud. The fraudulent charges, which totaled $582.92, stemmed from online transactions in October that were made on her credit card by someone else.
At 5:13 p.m. Friday, U. of I. student Yunsoo Jung, 18, of Urbana, was arrested at Oglesby Hall, 1005 W. College Court, Urbana, on a charge of credit card fraud. Jung is accused of using his roommate's debit card to rack up $2,472 in online video game purchases.
At 11:20 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Third and Daniels streets, Champaign, U. of I. student Bennett J. Sprague, 20, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for possession of a controlled substance. Officers on patrol in the area noticed Sprague had fallen to the ground on the north side of Daniels Street and was not moving. When the officer exited his vehicle, Sprague attempted to run away. While he was presenting identification to officers, a clear plastic bag with a single pill fell out of his wallet.
At 11:49 a.m. Wednesday, Jorge E. Alvizures, 21, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear for retail theft. Alvizures is accused of stealing textbooks worth $383.68 from the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St, Champaign.
At 12:22 p.m. Saturday, Mark D. Burgess, 24, of Urbana, was issued a letter of no trespass for U. of I. property at his residence in the 2500 block Prairie Green Drive, Urbana. Burgess was involved in a domestic dispute with a U. of I. student.
