At 3:35 a.m. Friday near Goodwin Avenue and Illinois Street, Urbana, James A. Meads, 21, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for resisting a police officer. Meads dropped a bicycle and ran when he saw an officer patrolling in the area. He continued to run when the officer told him to stop, and was apprehended after a short foot chase. Meads had previously received a no-trespassing notice for U. of I. property, and he told police that he had taken the bicycle from a rack because he found it unlocked.
A U. of I. employee reported that his bicycle had been stolen Wednesday from Bevier Hall, 905 S. Goodwin Ave., Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $300, was locked to a rack.
