A U. of I. employee reported June 3 that someone had stolen equipment from a university-owned weather station near Bondville, Illinois. The last time that a weather report had been transmitted was 1:40 a.m. June 2. The stolen equipment has a total estimated value of $4,965.
At 9:17 p.m. Tuesday at Curtis Road and Dunlap Avenue, Savoy, Illinois, Joseph Johnson IV, 21, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for aggravated battery. Police initially were called to Willard Airport, 11 Airport Road, Savoy, where a man reported that he was punched by Johnson, who had been the victim’s rideshare driver. Johnson and the passenger had engaged in a verbal dispute on the way to the airport. At the end of the ride, Johnson exited the vehicle and struck the passenger, then drove away. A UIPD officer stopped the vehicle as Johnson returned from the airport.
