    Gregory A. Smith, 31, was arrested at 4:35 p.m. Friday at his residence in the 1000 block of South Mattis Avenue, Champaign, for harassment by telephone. It was reported that Smith had sent telephone messages that included threats of violence to someone whom he previously dated.

    Dustin M. Watson, 31, of Champaign, was arrested at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday near Second and White streets, Champaign, on three Champaign County warrants for failure to appear in court and three Rantoul, Illinois, warrants for retail theft, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police initially approached Watson to check on his welfare when they saw him lying in the grass near a sidewalk.

    A U. of I. employee reported that an incident of indecent exposure occurred at 4:45 p.m. Friday at the Music Building, 1114 W. Nevada St., Urbana. The employee reported that he observed an unknown man who had dropped his pants and appeared to be touching his genitals while playing piano in a classroom. The man left the building immediately upon being confronted by the employee.

    A U. of I. employee reported that a man was seen urinating at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of the Children’s Research Center, 51 E. Gerty Drive, Champaign. Two young students saw the man urinating and reported the incident to their teacher.

    At 11:47 a.m. Friday in the 1700 block of South First Street, Champaign, Kyrell N. Brown, 28, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court related to a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court. Fire department personnel had responded to assist Brown after he was found unconscious on a Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District bus. Fire personnel called police after they found an air pellet pistol in his bag and he became uncooperative with medics.

    Elizabeth H. Delozier, 68, of Champaign, was arrested at 10:08 p.m. Thursday near Fourth Street and Windsor Road, Champaign, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Delozier’s vehicle initially was stopped because she was driving erratically and committed several traffic violations. 

    A U. of I. professor reported that he received a threatening text message from an unknown person at 10:18 p.m. Monday.

    Gordon R. Ficklin, 47, of Tolono, Illinois, was arrested at 5:05 p.m. Thursday near Curtis Road and Dunlap Avenue, Savoy, Illinois, for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of drugs and on a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court. Police initially were called by a witness who saw Ficklin unconscious in his vehicle, which was stopped in a ditch beside the road. Officers searched the vehicle after learning of the outstanding warrant and smelling a strong odor of cannabis emanating from the vehicle. They found a handgun, ammunition and drug paraphernalia coated with cocaine residue.

    At 7:06 a.m. Wednesday at the I Hotel and Conference Center, 1900 S. First St., Champaign, Courtnie N. Cox-Coleman, 27, of Champaign, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court related to a Champaign County warrant for failure to appear in court. Hotel staff initially called police after Cox-Coleman refused to leave the property.

    A U. of I. employee reported that catalytic converters had been stolen from two university-owned vehicles between Friday and Monday while they were parked at the Agronomy Seed Farm, 2102 S. Wright St., Urbana. The estimated cost to repair both vehicles is $3,500. In a separate incident, another U. of I. employee reported that a catalytic converter was stolen during the same time frame from a university-owned vehicle parked on university property at 1932 S. Wright St., Urbana. The estimated cost to repair the vehicle is $1,500. These crimes are in addition to three similar thefts of catalytic converters reported Monday at the Agronomy Seed Farm.

    At 1:08 p.m. Monday at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., Champaign, Dominique L. Harris, no address provided, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for retail theft. Store security personnel called police after seeing Harris attempt to leave the store without paying for a clothing item with a retail value of $65.

    A U. of I. employee reported that catalytic converters had been stolen between Saturday and Monday from three university-owned vehicles parked at the Agronomy Seed Farm, 2102 S. Wright St., Urbana. The estimated cost to repair all three vehicles is $4,500.

    Victor Tanksley III, 33, of Urbana, was arrested at 2:23 a.m. Thursday near University Avenue and McCullough Street, Urbana, for driving under the influence of alcohol. Tanksley’s vehicle initially was stopped because it was swerving in the roadway.

    A U. of I. employee reported that someone had stolen cash from her vehicle between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday while it was parked inside U. of I. parking garage B-4, 1201 W. University Ave., Urbana. It is unknown whether the vehicle was locked. While the officer was speaking with the first victim, another U. of I. employee approached and reported that someone had stolen cash from her vehicle parked in the same area. The second vehicle had been left unlocked.

    Timothy Maiden, 22, of Champaign, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of East Springfield Avenue, Champaign, on three Champaign County warrants for failure to appear in court. Maiden’s vehicle initially was stopped because its registration was expired.

    At 2:54 p.m. Friday at the U. of I. Public Safety Building, 1110 W. Springfield Ave., Urbana, Kayonna A Bufford, 21, of Urbana, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for identity theft. Investigators identified Bufford as the person who in September 2020 allegedly took out a $1,033 loan at the University of Illinois Community Credit Union, 2201 S. First St., Champaign, using another person’s identification and Social Security information.
