The manager of a car rental business at Willard Airport, 11 Airport Road, Savoy, Illinois, reported Dec. 22 that one of its vehicles had been stolen. The vehicle, which has an estimated value of $28,083, was rented Oct. 24 and was not returned at the end of the rental period on Oct. 29. The person who rented the vehicle has not responded to multiple messages from the business.
At 12:40 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 0-100 block of East Washington Street, Champaign, Jeremy J. Kolesar, 41, no address provided, was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear in court for criminal trespassing on state-supported land. Kolesar was identified as one of the people involved in a Dec. 9 fight outside of the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, 405 N. Mathews Ave., Urbana. Kolesar previously had been issued a no-trespassing notice for all U. of I. property.
Heidi N. Burns, 37, of Champaign, was arrested at 2:26 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of North Dunlap Avenue, Savoy, Illinois, for driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and illegal possession of cannabis in a vehicle. Police initially were called by a Willard Airport crash rescue crew member who saw Burns’ vehicle ramming a security fence multiple times as she was attempting to leave the airport property. Police stopped Burns at a nearby gas station after she left the airport property. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found an open container of alcohol, cannabis and MDMA pills.
A U. of I. student reported that her bicycle had been stolen between Nov. 19-30 at Allen Hall, 1005 W. Gregory Drive, Urbana. The bicycle, which has an estimated value of $400, was locked to a rack.
