Why did you choose ISoA to study architecture?
Illinois school of architecture is among the top architecture schools in the United States that provide students with a comprehensive broad program. The variety of the courses that are offered to students enables them to find the way that they are passionate about in architecture. Are you glad that you did?
I am happy with being a grad student at ISoA and I learned a lot here by working in teams or individual work under the supervision of great professors. I learned different ways and approaches in the design process by attending different architectural studios. Besides, I was able to do a joint degree with construction and management which enhanced my understanding and provided more opportunities both academic and in my future career.
Is there a particular area/topic of architecture that you’re interested in?
I am very interested in Detail and fabrication as this area allows the individual to think more in detail about the design process to perceive, rethink and improve the design process and as a result the outcome. I am passionate about integrating social sustainability approach into my design to better the built environment for people.
What did you do this past summer?
I worked as an architectural intern at Gensler in Chicago in summer. Working at Gensler was very rewarding for me and I had a great collaborative and individual work experience there. I was in the mix-used and high-rise studio and I learned a lot by being involved in different projects and working with different teams.

Do you feel like ISoA is preparing you for a career in architecture?
The variety of program, different types of studios and guest lectures that are provided here enables students to get familiar with other aspects and views in architecture and learn from professionals in practice too. Another advantage of studying at ISoA is being close to Chicago and the opportunity of being in contact with the great architecture firms in the world.
If you could change one thing about your architecture education, what would it be?
Focusing more on understanding the relationship between human beings and the built environment in architecture. It is necessary to learn better perceive, think and understand architecture and learn how to criticize.
What one piece of advice would you give to current freshman architecture student? What do you wish you knew that you know now?
To do what they are passionate about in architecture and do not hesitate to speak up about their new ideas or try new ways. Travel to different countries to experience different architecture styles in person and learn from them. Do not rely solely on school courses and assignments, be proactive and continue looking out. Take advantage of elective courses and experience different courses in other areas such as art, sculpture, drawings, movie and integrate their understanding of them with the design process.
What one thing would you recommend that would improve the life of being a student in the school of architecture?
Try to understand all different aspects of their life and its beauty as these experiences enrich their knowledge and understanding in the future. Again being proactive and being mindful of the value of time. Stay tuned with the new technology and skills in the world to progress more.
Did you have a favorite professor from a previous semester? Who was it and why?
It is hard for me to pick a favorite professor as I learned quite a lot from each one of them. Everyone has their own unique style and method in teaching and enhancing student’s knowledge. They do their best effort to make everything possible for the students.
Anything else you’d like us to know about you?
I was sincerely honored and grateful to be selected as the recipient of three fellowships in the past two academic years at U of I. These fellowships has provided me with the best opportunities in school, and my future career in architecture and have enabled me to devote my time on my studies, educational activities and exploring new things in my life. This generosity has inspired me to want to help students achieve their educational dreams in the future, when I have the ability to contribute to them.
