Well, it looks like spring is finally here! And perfect timing because coming up in May is the national bike month! You’re not going to want to miss all the events going on for this month-long celebration of bikes. As the weather continues to get warmer, get ready to get out and have fun!
First up is Bike to Work Day on May 1st. It doesn’t matter if you bike every day or if this is your first time opting to commute on a bike, this event is for everyone and it’s free! Sign up and ride your bike to work or to class. Along the way, you’ll get a free t-shirt, and there will be booths all over for snacks to fuel your ride.
For the younger members of our community, there will be a Bike to School Day on May 8th. This is a fun way for kids to be active and learn bike safety! There will be volunteers handing out all kinds of cool bike related free stuff. Check out the event here.
Group rides are a great way to get some exercise and have fun in a social environment. There will be one May 19th and another on May 23rd. These events will have more information soon so check this page for updates.
If you would like to ride your bike more, but don’t because you don’t know how to ride in traffic, or if you want to know as much as you can so you can teach your children how to ride a bike safely, there are a couple of smart cycling classes you should check out. The classes will be held on July 27th from 9am-12pm and August 24th 9am-12pm. More information and registration can be found here.
If you don’t want to bike, but still want to participate in this community event you can volunteer! Click here for the sign-up sheet.
