We are, probably, all guilty of googling, “what should I do today”, especially, when we are stuck at home with nothing to do in a small town. Well, I am here to say, if the weather is nice, I have some great ideas for you. They all involve biking, of course.
Here are 10 things you could do on a nice day that is good for your health, relationships, and overall well-being:
- Meal on Wheels:
Get your friends, hop on some bikes, and go grab lunch, coffee, or ice cream.
- Picnic for Two:
Grab a friend, or a significant other and pack a delicious and healthy meal. Find a local park, the Quad, or somewhere random to have a picnic, and bike there to add a little more outdoor adventure.
- Photo Shoot:
Take some of your closest friends, put on a cute outfit, and grab a camera. We have all seen those photos on Pinterest or Instagram with a bike, and you know you have always wanted to take one too.
- Mediation Session:
Take a long bike ride, either alone or with a close friend, and reflect on your week. Feel free to stop somewhere with a scenic view and admire it. Practice mindful breathing, and maybe even sit down for a little while.
- Work Out:
Plan to gear up with some water and head out for an intense ride. Break a sweat! But, be sure to wear a helmet!
- Bike Shopping:
Bike to your local bike shop, and look at all the bike accessories. Like a new work out outfit, bike accessories might motivate you to bike more often. For example, for less than $5, you can get glow in the dark bike lights for your tires! So cool!
- Family bonding:
This one might be a little hard if you have a stubborn family like mine. But, there’s no harm in asking your friends or family to go on a bike ride after lunch or dinner to get in some exercise and bond over a delicious dinner.
- Tandem Bike:
Rent a tandem bike just for fun
- Go to an outdoor concert or show:
During the summer, there are farmers markets, outdoor shows, restaurant activities, etc. Take advantage of these, and make these events even more fun with fun transportation. Not to mention, it is easy to park a bike in appropriate bike parking areas, such as bike racks (considering all the University buildings and most of the buildings in Champaign and Urbana have them), instead of searching for parking.
- Scavenger Hunt:
Gather a big group of people together and make two teams. Each team has to bike to find things around town, collect them, take photos, etc.
